In the exhibition “3,” Anna Livia Dörr, Veronika Günther, and Niloufar Shirani present a selection of recent works, including installation, sculpture, video, and painting.

Anna Livia Dörr explores experimental approaches to ceramic materials, pushing their characteristics to the limit while allowing breaks to occur and fragments to remain. Her ceramics are simultaneously image, image carrier, and sculpture. Her use of line, surface, and color is at times graphic and painterly, and at other times sculptural. Dörr’s works address challenge and loss of control, proximity and distance, and the uncertainty in between.

Veronika Günther primarily draws from memory. Her drawings bring together images from everyday life with motifs from literature, film, and other forms of mass media, as well as memories and fragments of dreams. Personal and public material intertwine to form an associative narrative with a cinematic quality. Reduced to the essential, distortions in perspective and anatomy introduce an unpredictable element of visual humor and poetry into the depicted scenes. In her installation The End at Kunstarkaden, the artist presents textile text works featuring lyrics from songs by artists such as Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, addressing themes of transience, loss, and the uncertainty of the future.

Niloufar Shirani engages in a profound dialogue with the myths of ancient Persia, connecting them with the lived experiences of contemporary people. In her works, relationships between humans, animals, and nature are continuously repeated and interwoven. Ancient symbols are reinterpreted through modern science and technology, as well as through medical and anatomical forms. In this way, she creates a puzzle of nonlinear narratives. For the exhibition at Kunstarkaden, Niloufar Shirani presents installations of her ceramic sculptures combined with video and images.
