The City of Munich’s Department of Culture promotes the production and presentation of art in Munich. The municipal art spaces enable encounters between the public and artists at attractive locations. They make it possible to experience what is being created in the region and also show Munich art in dialog with supra-regional positions. With their exhibitions, the art spaces complement the range of off-spaces, galleries, museums and exhibition venues. Feel invited and let yourself be inspired.
Admission is free.
FLORIDA Lothringer 13 is a collaborative art space that is run by a changing committee consisting primarily of artists and publishes the FLORIDA magazine. Pressing social issues are explored in lectures, talks, screenings, readings, workshops and exhibitions. The aim is also to find out what task an art space can take on today. All are welcome!

The Artothek is both an art lending center and a gallery. It promotes Munich’s artists by purchasing paintings and sculptures. They are represented in the collection with almost 2000 exhibits. These works of art can be borrowed from the Artothek for a small fee. In addition, numerous exhibitions and events are organized here in the gallery space, the so-called Bildersaal.

Since the early 1970s, the MaximiliansForum has been an exhibition venue for contemporary art and its current discourses. Its unique location makes it a special venue for visual and applied art projects. As a continuously accessible art space in a public pedestrian subway, it acts like a shop window into the scenes and their networks.

The Kunsthalle in Munich’s town hall utilises its central location on Marienplatz. At 750 square metres, the hall is one of the largest and most popular art venues in the city. The exhibitions are as entertaining as they are sophisticated. They show exciting examples of both local and international art production. The Department of Culture organises exhibitions in the hall from March to November.

The Lothringer 13 Halle has been dedicated to experimental artistic practices since 1980 under changing curatorial direction. It sees itself as a place where artists and cultural practitioners from Munich can come together with international artists and a broad public. Long-term alliances with actors from different disciplines and plenty of space for the process of artistic production enliven the area. Projects on socially relevant topics are linked to a diverse program and invite discussion and exchange.
